FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS…

What if my dog doesn’t know sit, can’t be off leash
or is all over the place?

The beautiful thing about animals is their personalities! This is what I love to capture. If your dog can’t sit on command, or is all over the place, don’t worry. I’ll be ready with the camera to get them within a split second. If your dog can’t be off leash, that is not a problem at all! (I can remove distracting leashes in post processing).

Where do sessions take place?

Choosing a session location is one of the most important parts of the custom photography experience. We will work together during our “discovery meeting” to select a location that is perfect for you and your pet. I am happy to come to your house or barn if that’s what is most comfortable. You could also come to my studio, or we could select a beautiful place around the Richmond area. It is up to you!

Do I have to be in the images too?

I love photographing animals with their family. However, you certainly don’t have to be in the images with your animal. Whatever you are comfortable with is perfectly fine. Sometimes parts of your body such as hands and legs will be in some images. So take a look at the preparation page to be prepared! If you would like to include your family in the images that is fine by me as well. I do have experience photographing families and children with their pets. (After all, pets are part of the family. They should be in your family photos!)

Can you photograph multiple animals together at once?

Yes! I can photograph multiple animals. Depending on their size differences, energy levels and how they socialize with each other, it may take a bit of creativity and a longer session to get the images looking great.

What kind of pets do you photograph?

I love animals of all kinds and I can photograph animals of all kinds! From bunnies to birds, snakes, lizards and hedgehogs I would love to photograph any pet you have. I also love being around the barn and farms, so if you would like me to photograph larger animals or farm animals, I can do that as well!

How should I prepare my pet?

Of course, your animal has the spotlight here, so you will want to make sure they are prepared to look and feel their best! After you book a session you will receive a welcome kit. In this kit there will be more detailed tips on how to prepare your pet. But generally you want to make sure they are clean (bath time!) with trimmed nails if necessary and have a clean collar, lead, bridle etc.

What happens after our session?

After our session you get to sit back and relax. While you are doing that, I will be busy post processing your images and getting ready for your “image reveal and ordering session.” This process generally takes 1-2 weeks. When I am done you will come to my west end studio to see your images on the big screen! You’ll choose the perfect most meaningful images that will work best in your home. We will select finishes and options for you to enjoy your collection of images in the way that’s best for you. Once selections have been made, I will retouch all of your final images (remove leashes, leads, stray hairs etc.) and send them off to be printed by the finest professional print labs. While we wait for your artwork to arrive you will receive a digital gallery filled with all of your selected images as social media ready digital files. When your artwork arrives, I will deliver it to you (and install wall art if necessary in the Richmond area). Then, you get to enjoy this special artwork for the rest of your life.
