A Pet Friendly Day In Charleston, SC
Are you ready for a pet-friendly adventure to Charleston, South Carolina, where the charm is as contagious as our furry friends' enthusiasm for life? We recently spent a week in Myrtle Beach SC. Charleston is only a 2 hour drive from Myrtle Beach. So, of course we embarked on a day trip with our dogs, Lady and Hannah. Our first stop is Crew LaLa, where doggy fashion reigns supreme!
Crew LaLa, the Pawshion Capital of Charleston:
We kicked off our adventure at Crew LaLa, the ultimate canine couture boutique where tails wag and fashion is in full swing! Lady and Hannah were treated to adorable matching bow, collar, and leash sets, all handmade right in Charleston. Now, these pups were looking like true Southern belles, ready to strut their stuff and take on the town!
Lunch at The Blind Tiger: Where Pups Dine Like Royalty
Hunger pangs led us to The Blind Tiger, where not only humans but also our furry friends are welcome to indulge in a culinary feast. Looking at the pub from the street, you wouldn’t guess that it’s pet friendly. But, a quick walk through the door and down the hall leads you to the pet-friendly courtyard. This offered a refreshing oasis for our pups to chill out with a bowl of ice water. The food here is quite delicious. I had the Caprese Panini, my husband had the Nashville Hot Chicken, while we shared a serving of Pimento Cheese. Meanwhile, Hannah tried to swipe our food like a pro - no success though. (She did get some yummy Bocce’s Bakery treats though that we also got at Crew LaLa).
The Blind Tiger's history adds an extra layer of intrigue to our dining experience. This iconic spot has been delighting locals and visitors since 1893, making it one of the oldest establishments in the city. Once upon a time, it was a speakeasy during the Prohibition era. It’s been said that there are still tunnels under the building and in order to partake the secret password was asking to “See the tiger in the back,” Hence the name The Blind Tiger.
Strolling Down King Street:
After lunch, it was time to explore King Street. The summer heat in Charleston can be unforgiving, so we did a mix of walking and driving. Lady and Hannah loved exploring, while we soaked in the vibrant sights of this historic street. I read that many of the stores are pet friendly, though with the heat and the pups paws, we mostly explored exquisite architecture on foot, heading toward White Point Garden.
Breathtaking Beauty at White Point Garden:
Our next stop was the picturesque White Point Garden, a true oasis of calm amidst the bustling city. Towering Southern oak trees provided the perfect shade for us to relax and admire the scenic waterfront views. Our pups couldn't resist a little playful scampering on the lush green grass. It was a moment to cherish as we felt the rich history and charm that Charleston emanates.
White Point Garden, is just a stones throw to The Battery, where we marveled at the iconic row of antebellum homes and stunning views of the Charleston Harbor. The architecture was beautiful.
Observing More Architecture:
From here we headed back to King Street, where our car was parked. As we walked, the clang of a horse-drawn carriage passed by, much to Hannah's curiosity and excitement. She was thoroughly intrigued and we had a good laugh at her beagle bay (awooo) in response to wanting to get closer.
A Day to Remember:
Our pet-friendly day trip to Charleston was a delightful adventure filled with laughter, history, and canine shenanigans. Charleston's charm and hospitality extended not only to us but also to our beloved pets, making it a memorable experience for everyone.
